I left my home country as an immigrant teenager to join my brother who was in the American army and stationed in Germany with his family. I left behind my family, my dear mother, and my friends.
Although I traveled with a green card, I remembered how, as a minor, I was accompanied by a guard at the Miami airport, and that guard stayed with me until I boarded the plane to Germany.
At that time, it felt like I was treated as an illegal immigrant, but I was so excited to be on my way to a new life, although a foreign land, with new opportunities.
When we moved to the United States a couple years later, I was excited to go to college and I applied for citizenship as soon as I qualified. Soon after, I sent for my mom and helped her become a U.S. citizen.
While going to college, I worked for two attorneys and was in charge of their immigration practice, assisting different immigrant groups reunite with their loved-ones and find a pathway to U.S. citizenship.
Although I’ve been involved with various businesses, I’ve always had a heart for working with immigrants to help them adjust their status, avoid going back to their home country, and avoid being separated from their family.
Throughout the years, I’ve worked with many friends and family members to adjust their status so they can fulfill their immigration wish. I’m passionate about this mission and it brings me great joy to be a part of my immigrant community’s journey.
